short description
A perfect representation of tribal textile art, this elegant cotton headdress is traditionally worn by Khyang Tribe members of Mizoram. Dark blue in color, the cotton cloth is elongated and narrow, a fine interplay of simplicity and decorative sophistication. Three golden stripes running at the center, with one bordering either side, are the most conspicuous features. These stripes not only act like the ornamentation but may also serve a symbolic or social purpose.

Deep blue cotton headdress with golden stripes
A perfect representation of tribal textile art, this elegant cotton headdress is traditionally worn by Khyang Tribe members of Mizoram. Dark blue in color, the cotton cloth is elongated and narrow, a fine interplay of simplicity and decorative sophistication. Three golden stripes running at the center, with one bordering either side, are the most conspicuous features. These stripes not only act like the ornamentation but may also serve a symbolic or social purpose.
Elaborately woven motifs in gold and brown threads at both ends of the cloth add to the rich ornamentation. These motifs may probably be handcrafted through backstrap loom weaving, which is popular among tribal communities in Northeast India. The headdress is mostly worn by Khyang men during cultural festivals, rituals, or vital community gatherings to denote status and identity, exemplifying respect.
