The Rabha are an indigenous tribe mostly found in Assam, Meghalaya, and West Bengal in India's northeastern part, recognized for their specialization in bamboo work and a few other natural materials; primarily weaving. The pitcha, the most characteristic of all Rabha products and at the same time the most utilitarian, is also a functional object given high status in any culture. The unique yet very functional pitcher shape with a narrow bottom neck is ideal for carrying and pouring.
