Livelihood Practices
description
Fishing, hunting, and small-scale farming are the main subsistence activities of the Nicobarese, with coconut and areca nut farming as two of their major economic pursuits. They acquire livelihoods and income from the coastal lifestyle which enables them to have skills in fishing and canoe making. The people live in traditionally stilted wooden homes, built near the shore such that they withstand the forces of nature. Each procedure shows an adaptation by season with farming and fishing practices to nature.

Cultural Significance
description
Storytelling, dance and art are cultural traditions of the Nicobarese tribe that speak of the collectivism and historical memory of the group. Festivals and dances, such as the traditional Pig Festival, help bring people together in community acts and strengthen the social bond. Trace ancestor worship and, deeply to them, the spiritual world, into their daily lives from rites and rituals practiced par generationally. This beautiful cultural framework brings unity to people and instills belongingness to one's heritage
