Andaman's most legible aborigines are the Great Andamanese, whose origin dates back for almost 60,000 to Central Africa. Their cultural wealth, while being resilient, presents an influence on the history of those islands. This includes fierce defense of their lands, the most notable being the "Battle of Aberdeen" against British forces. The Great Andamanese display their rich cultural milieu by keeping and shaping into their heritage something extraordinary, to say the least-the Bomu dance

Livelihood Practices
description
The Great Andamanese are known for their occupation in fishing, hunting, and gathering, all of which depend on the resources of the islands. Harvesting from the coastal yards and the natural forest more than feeding trade; fishing in shallow coastal waters offers both protein and trade. Tribe knowledge of the land has still checked that they take care to fairly play with the available resources for food and shelter without imposing very much on the ecosystem, thus west mining the island landscape

Cultural Significance
description
Most of the aspects of Great Andamanese culture are exhibited in traditional practices, the ancient "Bomu" dance, and reputed to be one of the oldest dances in the world. The tribe keeps alive their unique customs, teaching traditional songs, art, and dance from generation to generation. Cultural exhibition also includes the practice of ornamenting with cowry shells and clay tattoos passed through their ceremonies: they use these symbols to express their sense of purpose to history and nature. Through doing so, they keep their uniqueness alive and cultivate a sense of fraternity and harmony

Sustainability Effort
description
One of the main moves toward Great Andamanese cultural sustenance involves preserving their traditional knowledge, an initiative taken to set up a museum to commemorate events like the "Battle of Aberdeen." Conservation programs are designed to set aside motherland, while eco-tourism projects work for more economic opportunities with minimal hindrance to tribal customs. Additionally, a coalition between tribal chiefs and any organization is involved in propagating their customs, cultural sustenance, and conservation with forward-looking focus
