This is the Juang tribe that has been designated as a Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG) of Odisha which is primarily found inhabiting the district of Keonjhar referred to as "Juang Pirh." The term "Juang" means "Man" in their language and indicates a sense ofoneness or strong identity with the land. Although Keonjhar is their traditional homeland, migration to Angul and Dhenkanal areas has been witnessed in the community of Juangs. They enrich their culture through festival celebrations with music and dance making it very tailored to their lifetime remainder tradition as well.

The Changu is the Juang tribe’s central percussion instrument, played predominantly during dance performances. Known for its distinct single membrane, the Changu is a hand-held drum that complements the tribe's traditional dances. During celebrations and festivals like Pus Punei, Magha Jatra, and Amba Nua. The Changu dance, a staple of Juang cultural expression, symbolizes joy and communal harmony, making the instrument crucial to social gatherings.
