Traditionally hunters and warriors, today the Konyaks have adopted agriculture as their mainstay. They are also very good craftsmen, especially in gunsmithing, iron smelting, brass work, and wooden sculpture making. They manufacture guns and handicrafts like basketry and weaving, which is reflective of a rich cultural heritage.

The tribal society is largely hierarchical, with the Angh acting as a political and spiritual leader having immense say in village activities.
