The Kamarbandh is not only ornamental but has ethnographic and ceremonial significance too. Mostly put on festive times, during dancing and in rituals, this piece of ornament has been considered feminine and a symbol of fertility and strength. It emphasizes the natural form and movement of the body to highlight folds in the body, thus making the lassier seem graceful and in harmony with traditional attire. Its incorporation of white metal shows local availability and sustainable use of resources. However, like the sleek designs presented, one would truly appreciate its bonding to nature and the artisanal tradition. Therefore, preserving this Kamarbandh and other ornaments such as it would play an important role in the understanding of the cultural richness of the Kondh people.
