Traditional Rain Sheds
description
These have been close to nature and made dependent entirely on it. Like many tribals, for impressive things in his daily life, he has
given nature a touch. One of these marvelous creations is the rain shield, which serves as raw, indigenous protective gain during monsoon rains. This rain shield is square-shaped and made entirely with small knitted leaves that are intertwined to form a watermark barrier. Because it is entirely made of natural leaves, it is light, strong, and entirely sufficient to do away with even the starry rain.
At the top, one side is provided with twisted bark rope to hold or tie it on the body and used during outside work. It is very mainly used by Gadaba communities during farming or collection of materials or doing any such outdoor activity in rains. Unlike modern raincoats, this earth friendlier rain shield biodegrades and is made of sustainable materials in down-to-earth expression of the high regard the tribe has for nature and traditional structures. Such indigenous practices will afford for self-reliance, resourcefulness, and adaptability to be kept and continued in tribal communities. Recognizing and promoting such innovations will also give rich lessons for sustainability and adaptation to climate.
